FAMILY LEARNING 2017

Family Learning is once again taking place on a Friday morning in school. This term is for parents and children in Key Stage 2 and is Getting Ahead in Maths and 10 parents/carers have signed up to come along.

In Spring we will be working with the children and parents in the Nursery and Reception classes and the area covered will be Learn Together Every Day.

Summer will be with the Year 1 and 2 parents and children and be Getting Ahead in English.

These courses are open to all parents/carers in the school and are based around showing you how subjects are taught in school in order to enable you help your children at home.

Please speak to Mrs King if you would like further information on any of these courses.

Family Learning is a fabulous opportunity to find out how your children learn. Courses run throughout the year, lasting 4 – 10 weeks. Why not discover how writing, maths, phonics or confidence and resilience are all developed in school? Learning takes place in small groups of parents with a County Council tutor as well as a joint session with your child.

Fun, friendly and informal learning in a relaxed context, all helping you to feel inspired, get back into learning and feeling confident yourself, and learn effective skills to support childrens learning.

2017 Early Years participant: “It’s really worth doing, I learnt a lot, especially about phonics”.

2016 KS1 Maths participant: “Family learning is fun for both the child and parent while you are learning at the same time. It has given me the confidence to help and support my sons with their school work in the know that I am doing it right. The tutor is excellent and she is very helpful and understanding towards our needs”.
