After School Activities

Well done to the pupils that took part in the Key Steps Gymnastics Competition at Richard Rose Morton Academy. The children competed against a number of schools from around Carlisle and had to perform a floor sequence and a vault. The year 1 team finished 5th in their age group and the year 4 team finished 7th in their age group. The children have worked hard over the last few weeks preparing for the competition and this is a fantastic achievement.

On 28th January we made Thai red curry – the above pictures show the group chopping vegetables and chicken. It also shows them cooking the chicken curry on the hobs and the finished dish.

Cooking Club

Cooking club takes place on a Thursday night from 3.15 until 4.45 p.m. It is open to all year five pupils and we make a wide range of dishes including scones, soups, muffins and curries. We also bake for special events such as Children in Need and the musical extravaganza.

The photographs below show the children chopping onions and green peepers for chilli con carne using the bridge and claw methods for safe chopping.

Cooking week 2017

We held our annual cooking week in June this year – all of the children in took part with 80 parents attending over the three days. Key stage 1 classes were paired with Key stage 2 classes and made cheesy courgette muffins – the children took home three muffins each and a recipe so that they could cook them at home.
